With summer right around the corner, wedding season is almost upon us! As you’re gearing up for your Athens, Georgia wedding don’t forget little gifts for those who’ve helped you so much during the planning process! DIY gifts are super easy, affordable and have that handmade touch that adds a little personality and charm.

Sugar scrubs seem to be all the rage right now (as in I get them in at least every other Ipsy bag!) so, I thought it would be fun to make my own, and I was right! If you’re a bride on a budget, this homemade sugar scrub is definitely something you’ll want to incorporate into your wedding. They look adorable, smell delicious and it all took me no more than 30 minutes to make three to five jars, depending on their size.

I also choose to make mine a little less scrub-like by adding in some more coconut oil than sugar, but your ratio is completely up to you. You can add more sugar to get a better exfoliation in. The best part of these gifts is everything is so customizable and easy to make according to your own preference. You can even choose to make a variety of different scents and colors to choose from!

The scrubs I made were grapefruit scented with some light red food coloring, giving it that perfect citrus color, but you can do whatever color and scent combination your heart desires! Some other fun combos: mint and light blue food coloring, lavender and purple food coloring or even vanilla with a red food coloring (did someone say Georgia Bulldogs?) The possibilities are endless and allow you to coordinate these favors to your wedding with ease.

Did I mention how few ingredients you need to make the scrubs? The best part is you probably already have most right inside your kitchen’s pantry: coconut oil, sugar and food coloring! Then you can stop by your local TJ Maxx or Target to pick up the jars and any decorations you want. Athens readers, I’m looking at you! I picked up a set of jars, string and a whole jar of coconut oil from the TJ Maxx Homegoods store right off Alps Road for less than $10. (Maybe closer to $15 once I picked up a yummy smoothies from Smoothie Planet right down the street, but that’s totally optional!)
