The attachment between a pet and their human is very special. Most pet lovers consider their pet to be part of the family. If that is the case, they have to participate in the most important day of your life…right?  Whether it be your dog, horse, rabbit, or cats, most animals can be a party of your wedding in some way. Of all of the different types of pets you could have, a dog at your wedding is going to be the easiest pet to manage on your big day!

The best way to incorporate your dog or dogs at your wedding is by letting them be a part of the wedding party. You can have your pet walk down the aisle with a bridesmaid on a leash, have it be your ring bearer, or let it ride in a wagon with the flower girl. Your options are endless on how your pet can walk down the aisle.

You do need to make sure that your venue allows you to have pets attend the wedding, and I would also recommend having a pet sitter. Having your pet walk down the aisle is monumental for both you and your guests, but you do not want to be stressed with worrying about your pets on your wedding day. Also, make sure you have a plan for your pet after the ceremony is over. If your venue is close to your house that will not be an issue. Another option to consider is bringing a kennel for your pet to stay in for the remainder of the wedding.

If you think having your pet at your wedding is too much of a hassle, there are plenty of other options for how you can incorporate your pet into your wedding.

To make you feel like your pets are present during the ceremony, you can have cardboard cutouts of your pets and sit them in a chair as if they are attending the wedding. Being able to see them in the crowd is a great way to still feel like they are able to participate.

Include your pets in your save the dates. Taking your engagement and your save the date photos with your pets may be a challenge, but the candids will be moments that will never be forgotten. Also, you might want to warn your photographer beforehand.

You can then print out your engagement and save the date pictures with your pets and use them in your decorations at your reception. Don’t forget to include some of your favorite pictures of you and your significant other with your pets.

Design your wedding cake with your animals in mind. You can have your cake made to look like your pet, or you can special design your cake toppers to look like your pets.

The last way you can incorporate your pets into your wedding is by creating specialty drinks named after your pets. On your drink menu, you can put a picture of your pet beside the designated drink that you have created for them. Think about the personalities of your pets as you create your handcrafted cocktail or mocktail for your guests at your wedding.
