The Pinterest bride. Almost like The Princess Bride but a little different.
Pinterest is one of my favorite social media platforms, and you can use it on your phone, tablet, or computer. It’s the perfect place for all of our creative impulses, whether we are artistic or not. If you’re on Pinterest you might have a “Get In My Belly” food board or a “Dream Closet” board filled with a wardrobe that inspires you. But, what Pinterest has arguably the most of, is wedding inspiration. I, personally, have been planning my wedding on Pinterest since I was 15.
Where to begin
Start by making an overall “masterboard” where you will save every idea you find and love.
This can include:
- Wedding and Bridesmaid dresses
- Color swatches
- Table decor
- Altar ideas
- Honeymoon ideas
- PHOTO IDEAS- Which arguably is the most important
Pin anything and everything you love
Creating a Pinterest board allows you to ultimately create the aesthetic of your entire wedding day. My favorite feature on the social platform is how it shows you related images. When you find a photo you like and scroll down, Pinterest shows you endless amounts of photos that are similar. This is why it’s so easy to get sucked into the “Pinterest pit.” Perfection takes time, which is why you give yourself a lot of time to plan your wedding. When you pin something, really think about what it is that caught your attention. Was it the colors and tones? Was it the style of the photography? The purpose is to curate ideas that you will later put into action.
Once you have a filled and diverse masterboard then you can start to make boards that are more categorized like the ones listed above.
It is also recommended to have a board for different parts of your wedding like:
- Rehearsal dinner
- Bachelorette party
- Bridal shower
The more specific you get in your boards, the easier it will be to have everything planned out.
Photos! Photos! Photos!
I was recently talking to a bride about just how much we pin wedding ideas. She told me that she actually made a book of her photos and gave it to her photographer. How brilliant is this?
Your wedding photos are going to be what carries on the memory of your special day and all it’s details, so it’s important to make the most of your photographer. Creating a pinterest board full of wedding photo ideas is very useful. There are so many crucial photo ops and endless ways to capture them, so knowing what you like will ensure that you get the best pictures. Try searching for “Ceremony Wedding Photos,” “First Look Photos,” “Wedding Exit Photos,” “First Dance Photos,” the options are endless. Something also to note is the lighting in pictures. Lighting in an indoor wedding is obviously going to look different than an outdoor one, and lighting will differ depending on the time of day (Morning, Afternoon, Sunset, Night).

Wedding Signs and Invitations
Pinterest is a curator of creativity, so naturally it’s filled with millions of unique ideas. Your wedding invitation is so important because it will hang on the refrigerator of all your guests until that special date. There are so many characteristics of the invitation to think about from color to calligraphy to photos or not photos, and more. But by searching “Beautiful Wedding Invitations” (or something similar) on Pinterest, it can be so easy to figure out what style you like. If it’s hard to choose, make a board and come back to it later! Just as there are so many options for invitations, there are also endless ideas for signs that you can put around your venue. Again, it is so easy to search “Wedding Signs” and find what you want!
