Living in a college town, I have seen many of my closest friends get engaged and start planning their wedding while they are in college. Although planning a wedding while in college may seem stressful, it is definitely possible. Here are some tips and tricks on how to make it happen with ease.
Balance your time
Most of your thoughts are going to be about your big day, but don’t forget that you are still in school. Start scheduling specific things that need to be done, but don’t try and do it all at once. I would recommend having different planners for school, the wedding, and life events. You can even allot certain amounts a time a day to make sure that all of your tasks get done in a certain amount of time. Trying to plan everything in one weekend will be very overwhelming, and it will not make the wedding planning process very fun. If you are planning to have a busy semester in school, then I would recommend finishing all of your rigorous classes before you get bogged down in all the wedding details.
Don’t be afraid to ask for advice. Ask family members and friends what they would suggest to make everything run more smoothly. Another option is to hire a wedding planner. This option will be more costly, but it could be a great idea for brides that tend to be easily overwhelmed. This will take away so much of your stress when planning because it is their job to make sure that everything runs smoothly, and they will have most likely have done this before.
Have specific instructions
Because you want everything to be perfect, you need to let everyone know exactly what you want. If you are able to delegate tasks that can be delegated, then you need to delegate them to people who you know will get them done. You can also have a pinterest board with ideas of how you want everything to look. That way there is a set expectation of what you want different things to look like on your wedding day.
Understanding that what will happen will happen
No matter how hard you want everything to be perfect, odds are there will be something that goes wrong. The flowers might not be the exact ones that you wanted, the food might not taste just right, or your flower girl might get nervous as she is walking down the aisle. That is completely okay. Things are going to happen, but you need to make sure that you know that it is all going to be okay.
Don’t stress and Enjoy the Season
The most important tip of all is to keep calm, don’t stress out about everything, and enjoy the season that you are in. This is a time of your life that you will most likely only have once, and you need to cherish it.
Push the date
If you are completely overwhelmed and you do not think that you can handle all the stress and deadlines that comes with conquering college and wedding planning, then you should also probably think about just moving the date of your wedding back.
