Catlyn + Robby Wells

Catlyn and Robby’s bohemian style wedding is one that everyone will have on their “Dream Wedding” Pinterest board; it was straight out of a storybook in every way.

The natural greenery, the sage dresses, and the deep maroon tux created the most beautiful and organic setting for the couples’ special day. Catlyn had originally planned on her bridesmaids wearing maroon for their fall wedding, but went with sage after Robby insisted on wearing a maroon tux. When I first saw the couple’s wedding pictures, my jaw hit the floor. A maroon tux? I had never seen that in a wedding before. Occasionally a groom might wear a maroon tie for a winter wedding, but for the whole tux? This was bold and beautiful and above any trend I could have foreseen coming. Catlyn’s dress wasn’t your traditional wedding gown either. Since high school she had dreamed of wearing an Anna Campbell dress. Anna Campbell is an Australian designer who hand makes her dresses for “modern romantics worldwide.” What more perfect way to accompany a maroon tux than a beautifully unique and hand embellished dress? Keeping with the “Arabian” bohemian look that Catlyn has always loved, she decided to spend her day barefoot. The ladies at Kelly’s Closet, where she bought the dress, just so happened to have foot cuffs that perfectly matched the dress.

When picking out a venue, Catlyn said “This might sound silly, but my only stipulation was that I needed a tree. I dreamed of a huge live oak with Spanish moss, but since we were staying near Atlanta I knew I’d be limited.” The weeping willow and church pews in the grass of Spring Lake Events in Rockmart were just what they were looking for. Located just about two hours from Athens, Spring Lake Events offers a large amount of land backdropped by beautiful mountains and a lake with a canoe.

Weddings are amazing because every ceremony is unique to the couple, their families, beliefs, and much more. Within a wedding there are many opportunities to add in traditions that hold a special meaning to them. Catlyn and Robby knew that they wanted to do something symbolic of serving one another in marriage, so they decided to have a foot washing ceremony. The ceremony is an act of humility that mirrors when Jesus washed the feet of His disciples. A married couple who washes each others feet on their wedding day, commits themselves to each other as equals, and promises an unconditional action of love.

The couple asked that their day be captured by Luke Lambertson who is a friend they’ve known for many years.
