Are you an Athens local? Are you a student or an alum of the University of Georgia? Did you and your fiancé meet at UGA? If you answered yes to any of these questions, why not consider taking photos on this beautiful campus we have here? Take advantage of the natural beauty right in your home! Here are a few stunning places on and around UGA’s campus, where you can commemorate your engagement!

North Campus

North campus is one of the most picturesque spots to take photos. You have the choice of gorgeous historic buildings as your background or trees that are decades old. It’s beautiful during the golden hour or mid-afternoon when the sun is hitting just right. There’s also the option of photos that have Downtown Athens in the background with colorful buildings and the businesses of Athens. A North Campus photo shoot isn’t complete without pictures by the iconic UGA Arch!

Founders Garden

With its gorgeous greenery and idealistic setting, the Founder’s Garden is a hidden gem on UGA’s campus. The Garden is perfect at sunset when the sun’s rays are shining brightly between all the neighboring trees. It also creates such a variety of photos with all the different components the garden has. Change your settings up by taking pictures by the staircases, fences, and under the gazebo.

Botanical Gardens

Down the road from the main campus, the Botanical Gardens are full of life and creativity. For more floral based pictures, this is your place. It also houses some of the oldest and most unique trees along with unique architectural spots in each area. The green houses and even the Visitor’s Center are filled with plant life and are great places to create variety within your photos.

The Fountain

The fountain is a gorgeous place to take your engagement photos, especially if you time it right! It’s the largest fountain here on UGA’s campus making for a great background with you and your fiancé still being the obvious focus. In this area you can also frame you photos to have Herty field as your backdrop. It’s quiet, calm, and dreamy. When the fountains are on and the sun is shining just right, there’s a glistening in the water that creates a natural and quixotic feel to your photos.

Ring the bell

The Chapel Bell is a campus staple, like The Arch. It’s often used for graduation photos, but it’s a lively place to take your engagement photos. Like most of North Campus, it’s surrounded by so much greenery so you aren’t limited to just The Bell as your main ‘prop’; use the surrounding nature as well. Have some fun with The Bell and “ring” in your engagement and new stage in life!

Take it to the Field

Is your honey an athlete or are you? Use your engagement photos as a way to celebrate your time in college. If either of you were or are athletes, taking photos on the field is a great way to have some fun with your photos. Incorporate your love for each other and the love you have for the sport you participate in. Express how much you enjoy what you do into your photos to make them more personal to the both of you as individuals and as a couple.
