One very traditional staple to a wedding is the bride’s bouquet- but is it a requirement? Many brides would not even consider having a wedding without a bouquet; however, that does not mean that you need to have one for your dream wedding! There are many pros and cons and even some alternatives to carrying a bouquet at your wedding.

Let’s face it, there are definitely some benefits to carrying a bouquet down the aisle! A flower bouquet does a great job of tying all of the wedding colors together. The boutonnieres and bouquets further add to the theme of the wedding by pulling the colors of the bride, bridesmaids, groom, and groomsmen together and making the wedding party stand out.

The smell and look of the flowers are able to add a nice feminine touch to the ceremony and pictures. In addition, the wide variety of flowers available can provide you with many options when creating a bouquet that fits you as an individual.

Bouquets can also add a fun touch to the wedding party! They give the wedding party something to set them apart from the guests, as well as something to do with their hands during the ceremony and pictures.

On the other hand, your wedding can still be wonderful even without a bouquet! The price of flowers can add up, so you may want to spend that money on something more important to you.

If you prefer for your bridesmaids not to carry a bouquet down the aisle, there are some alternatives! For a simpler and more affordable look, your bridesmaids could carry a single flower. On the other hand, you could steer away from the flower idea altogether and carry alternatives, such as a candle, a bridal clutch, fans, or even puppies! These other options could add your own personal touch to the wedding and maybe even give the bridal party something to snuggle with during the service!

At the end of the day, your wedding should portray you through it. It’s up to you to decide whether you use a beautiful bouquet, choose something else fun to carry, or even go without anything!
